A visit to the Vagli quarry together with the Foundation of the Architects Registration Board of Milan

Setting your eyes inside a prestigious and historic quarry like Vagli is a unique and precious opportunity.
More than 70 architects took advantage of this opportunity, a great success after the previous appointments organised with the Foundation of the Architects Registration Board of Milan.
First the walk on the occasion of 100 years of architecture in Milan, then the seminar at the headquarters of the Registration Board in Via Solferino, the guided tour by CMP Solmar in Cantù, to touch the most beautiful slabs from quarries all over the world. And today in the quarry.

We owe a big thank you to the fantastic guides – Davide Coltelli, Ottavio Baisi, Nicoletta Novelli and all the people of the cooperative – who took the guests by the hand, telling them many aspects, anecdotes, and stories of the quarry, as well as the architectural design of the headquarters, revealing secrets and characteristics of marbles used all over the world for big-name projects.

The Vagli Quarry is one of the oldest and best-known in the world where some of the most renowned marbles are extracted, among large deposits, such as Calacatta Vagli Oro, Arabescato Vagli, Calacatta Viola, used by architectural firms all over the world for the creation of prestigious works. Some of his achievements: the Vatican’s Sala Nervi, St Paul’s Church in London, the UN Security Council Room in New York, the Mausoleum of Bourghiba in Tunis, and Bendigo Cathedral in Australia.

We would like to thank the Foundation of the Architects Registration Board of Milan for their availability and great professionalism.

The Natural Stone world is one that you never stop discovering, a source of inspiration and great insights to customise your customers’ projects. We will continue this journey of culture.
